David's Confession and Repentance

Many of the Psalms correspond to actual events in Israel’s history that are told in other parts of the Bible. This is true of Psalm 51:1-19, which contains David’s confession of sin and repentance after his egregious sin against God by committing adultery with Bathsheba and murdering her husband Uriah. But David recognizes the horrible nature of his sin, and dramatically repents of his sin. From this story and this Psalm, we learn that we are called to bring our sins to God and to repent from sin with our whole hearts, and when we do so, there is no sin that God will not forgive.
